The Onishe of Ubulu Uku Kingdom and Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilization, Chief James Onwordi Asika Ibori Ubulu, has criticized the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for failing to resolve the party’s crisis.
He attributed the party’s challenges to the leadership’s ineffectiveness and called for a change in leadership.
Onwordi absolved the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike of blame, noting his significant investments in the party has made him to be loved by Nigerians.
He argued that Wike’s actions were a response to the party’s failure to address its internal issues noting that Wike has positive impact on the party, despite his opposition to the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
While criticizing Dino Melaye for his actions, which according to him has undermined the party’s image and created divisions within the party, he said Dino Melaye behavior during the 2023 general elections was seen as contradictory to the party’s ideology and he hasn’t contributed to the growth of PDP, suggesting he has not worked to strengthen the party or promote its values.
Onwordi expressed disappointment with the tenure of Iliya Damagum as acting national chairman, citing the persistence of crisis within the party.
While expressing displeasure over the Chairperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BOT) Adolphus Wabara, he said Wabara has failed to unify the party despite his leadership position.
He also criticized the 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for failing to unite the party and address post-election grievances.
Onwordi alleged that Atiku’s focus is on securing the party’s presidential ticket for 2027, rather than addressing the party’s current challenges.
Despite these challenges, Onwordi acknowledged the PDP’s resilience, citing the number of governors and defectors from the All Progressive Congress (APC) as evidence of the party’s strength.
He emphasized the need for the party to come together and work towards a common goal to overcome its difficulties and emerge stronger in the future.”
