Obelle Council of Chiefs Vice Chairman assassinated by suspected Cultists

The Vice Chairman of Obelle Council of Chiefs in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Ferdinand Dabiri, was shot dead on Saturday evening during a council meeting by suspected cultists.

According to eyewitness account and family confirmation, the attack was allegedly carried out by members of the notorious Iceland cult. The cult is led by a feared kingpin known as ‘Cairo’, who is believed to have orchestrated the attack.

The assailants reportedly stormed the meeting venue at Omuwoka village, where Chief Dabiri and other traditional leaders were gathered. The sudden and brazen attack caught the community off guard.

An eyewitness confirmed that “Cairo alighted from a motorcycle with a firearm, walked directly to Chief Dabiri, shot him twice at close range, and fled after confirming he was dead.” The eyewitness account paints a chilling picture of the events that unfolded.

According to him, the brutal assassination caused panic as other chiefs and community members at the scene fled for safety. The community is left shaken and fearful, wondering what led to the attack.
