Empowering Youth Minds: Medical Visions for Peace Launches Capacity Development Initiative

A United States based non-profit organization, Medical Visions for Peace, has carried out a major capacity development and award outreach across three primary schools in Rivers State. State School 2 Orogbum Primary School, State School 1 Elele, and Holy Child Academy as part of its commitment to promoting quality education and child development.

The organization, founded by Dr. Ogu Emejuru and led by its Global Executive Director, Peace Ndii Owhor Ogunleye, alongside Academic Director, Vanessa Dangana, made significant financial and educational interventions during the outreach.

A major highlight of the programme was the ₦1,000,000 donation made by Mrs. Helen Amadi, mother of the Global Executive Director, on behalf of Medical Visions for Peace, to support the renovation of the dilapidated ceiling at State School 1 Elele. The school was selected in honour of the late Mr. D. A. H. Emejuru, a renowned educationist and pioneer headmaster whose legacy continues to inspire academic excellence. The gesture also acknowledges the sustained philanthropic impact of the Godwin E. & Felicia W. Woji Foundation.

In further support of educational development, Mrs. Amadi also donated ₦500,000 to Holy Child Academy to enhance its learning environment.

As part of the outreach activities, outstanding pupils were recognized with awards in Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Literature, and Best Behaved Pupil categories. In addition, ten pupils from each of the three schools received cash gifts and educational materials, while Orogbum Primary School was presented with a sound system to support school activities.

Speaking during the programme, representatives of Medical Visions for Peace reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to adopting the three schools as partner institutions and sustaining the initiative as an annual outreach programme, in line with its mission to foster educational advancement and community development.

The intervention was widely commended by school authorities, teachers, and community leaders, who described the initiative as timely, impactful, and transformative.
