Apiafi to Partner with Students/Youth Bodies on Projects

The Administrator of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area in Rivers State, Senibo Frederick Apiafi, has stated that the council is ready and willing to collaborate with any student union body that has good ideas capable of shaping students in all ramifications.

Senibo Apiafi made the remarks while hosting the leadership of the National Union of Opobo Students (NUOS), where he admonished the students to always embark on humanitarian services rather than engaging in capital-intensive projects they cannot fund.

The administrator pledged that the council would support students who present meaningful projects with the potential to motivate young people to see education as key to human development.

Earlier, the President of NUOS, Godswill Kelefini Ogolo, said the executive council of the student body decided to pay the visit in order to familiarise themselves with the administrator and solicit sponsorship for some of the projects the union has earmarked to execute.

In another development, the Administrator of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Senibo Frederick Apiafi, urged various youth bodies and organisations in the area to ensure they register with the State Ministry of Youths.

”’I urge you to register your youth organisation with the State Ministry of Youths, with that you can benefit from any youth related programme from the State and LGA” he said.

He appealed for their cooperation and partnership in maintaining a healthy environment in the area and in proffering solutions geared towards eradicating secret cult activities, illicit drug peddling, and substance abuse.

“The council will support you in achieving a crime free, clean and healthy environment within Opobo/Nkoro LGA.”

In his remarks, the President of the Opobo Youth Forum (OYF) – a conglomeration of youth leaders from various sections, communities, and War Canoe Houses of Opobo Kingdom – Moses William Pepple, congratulated the administrator on his well-deserved appointment.

Mr. William-Pepple used the visit to enumerate the roles of the youth group and appealed for the provision of working tools and equipment to enable the forum galvanise youths to clean the community and distill the drainages to avert flooding in the kingdom.
