Preye Izogu, the well-known music producer and artist better recognized as Pizzibeats, has raised concerns about the underutilization of social media among artists in Port Harcourt. In a recent interview with Today FM, he explained that this gap limits their competitiveness against counterparts in Lagos and other major African cities.
Pizzibeats, who recently launched an Extended Play project titled “Piz the Ripper,” underscored the immense potential of social media in promoting music and enhancing artists’ visibility. “Social media should be a powerful ally for artists seeking to broaden their audience,” he noted.
He contrasted the proactive approach of Port Harcourt’s comedians, who have effectively harnessed social media to promote their work, encouraging local musicians to adopt similar strategies.
Furthermore, Pizzibeats called on music fans in Port Harcourt to actively support homegrown talent by engaging with and purchasing their music. He believes that with increased local support and a stronger presence on social media, Port Harcourt artists can significantly elevate their profiles and make a lasting impact on the music industry.
